| Bidding and Play |
|
| This
should be a straight forward bidding sequence. South opens the five
card Spade suit. North cannot bid two hearts as this would show 5 so
settles for two diamonds. South replies two hearts showing five spades
with at least four hearts and a point range of 12 - 15 HCP. North
realizes that they have a two suit fit and confidently bids 4 hearts. South has already shown five spades and at least four hearts and is likely to be short of the minor suits so an attacking lead is needed.and West leads the KC. Any other lead lets N/S get 11 tricks as losing clubs can be discarded on the diamonds. On the night five out of eight pairs found the correct contract. Some of you bid to 4 spades. Usually a 4:4 fit is better than a 5:3 fit. |
