| West's
sequence of 1C followed by 2D is a reverse and tells partner that he
has 16+HCPs with at least five clubs and four diamonds. These hands are
usually five loser hands if a fit can be found. East now has to respond
to the reverse . Hearts is the only bid and with 10 HCP to add to
West's minimum 16 east should realise that game is on. The obvious bid
is Hearts and most of you bid 2H which does not describe your hand.
This is a minimum bid after a force showing 6 - 8 HCPs The correct bid is to jump to 3H showing 9+HCP and at lest 6
Hearts. West knowing this can raise to 4H. Win the Spade lead with the AS. Lead a diamond to the AD and back to the KD and then throw away a losing Spade on the QD. Now finesse the QH which loses but due to your discard you can ruff the Spade return. Play the AH. Finesse the QC and TC ruffing Diamonds to return to hand. You will lose the King and Ten of Trumps yielding eleven tricks. |
