North
/ South from the bidding look like settling for a 2H contract making
for a score of +110.If you are playing East can you do anything about
it?? Your partner West must have some points otherwise N/S would have
bid to game. You therefore borrow a King from partner and see if you
can make a call. With this imaginary King you have 12 points and
a singleton in the oppositions suit so you can Double. Partner deducts
a King from his hand and bids at the minimum level 3D. North can either
Pass or bid 3H. If he passes E/W make 3C+1 for -110. If he bids 3H it
goes one off for -100 which is another good score for E/W.
When the opposition look like ducking out at the 2 level try and find a
bid. You will get a good result more often than you think.
